• For all skin types the Candela GentleLASE offers fast treatment time and unparalleled efficacy. The GentleLASE System, a revolutionary long-pulse high energy alexandrite laser, using selective targetting of the hair follicle, emits a gentle beam of light that passes through the skin to the hair follicle where it is absorbed. The laser energy is transformed into heat, which destroys the hair follicle leaving the surrounding skin unaffected. The skin is further protected during treatment by a Dynamic Cooling Device™ where cryogen is sprayed onto the skin cooling the upper layers and providing patients with increased comfort.
• For light skin and dark hair the Lightsheer diode laser is used to send a focused and concentrated beam of laser light. This light beam is absorbed by the melanin in the hair shaft which travels down the shaft and causes thermal destruction of these anatomical sites. This disrupts the hair follicles ability to regenerate itself and provides long lasting hair reduction. The procedure is safe and takes only 10 minutes to 1 hour depending on body part.
• Scientific Evidence - Numerous clinical studies performed showed the best results for hair removal were demonstrated with two type of lasers: one of which is the Alexandrite laser that operates at 755 nm (near infrared) line, used in our GentleLase system. Another such study was done on the Lightsheer Diode Laser for hair removal (Premier Laser Clinic uses this laser for light skin and dark hair). Of the 92 people used in the study, all had temporary hair loss and 89% had long term hair loss. Any re-growing hairs were shown to be thinner and lighter than previous observed. The Diode laser caused long term hair reduction without damage to the epidermis.
